Three Easy Feng Shui Ways to Treat Your Cloth Diapering System |
|
Where Cloth Diapers and Diaper Covers Meet Feng Shui Compatible Colors The world of cloth diapers may be overwhelming to new moms and first-time expectant families. So many choices: cotton, hemp, bamboo, fleece, and more! That's just the cloth diaper materials from which to choose! What about diaper covers to keep the wet diapers from getting everything else wet? So much to learn and so little time before your little one comes and grows bigger . . . . Plus, who really has all the money in the world to invest in your experiments? As a fellow mom, I believe that you also want the best investment for your bucks. Feng shui can help. Because feng shui is several millennia old and the patterns derived from such longevity prove the sustainability of different energy cycles in nature, I'm going to break this down and apply it to your everyday diaper changing experience. What this means is that you can use feng shui to decipher the most durable products. Here's how! 1. You may use 100% plant-based dyes to individualize your cloth diapers. This gives you an instant splash of color and joy to your diaper changing routine. Beets are one of my favorite dyes to work with because that plant is so generous and the color stays pretty long. You can do this as an arts and crafts project before the baby comes. Throw a diaper dying party, if you'd like! Maybe that can be your baby shower idea -- tell people to bring dozens of cloth diapers to the party to have them dyed. 2. If you have no time to dye your cloth diapers, then keep them in their natural color. Cotton diapers will stay white, bamboo and hemp diapers would be beige. Both of these colors are complementary colors and fit for the growing newborn, infant or toddler. 3. Now onto the diaper covers.... There are polyurethane covers that are white -- still a good choice, especially if you want to see if something got dirty or not. Fleece diaper covers come in a variety of colors. I still veer toward the beige variety. Cotton diapers are also a close runner-up, especially with the gPants and gCloth Inserts. What I noticed about the gDiaper company is that their cloth inserts and diaper pants come in feng shui compatible colors that do not clash. For example, their vanilla gPants has an orange logo and their brown gPants has a grey logo. Both of these examples are colors that do not clash in feng shui. Even though I tried the gDiaper company's system, here's the system that won my heart: I LOVE wool diaper covers and prefer them to be in their natural color. Although I have tried several different wool covers, I still prefer the BioBottoms variety. The border of their diaper covers have green, purple, yellow, red, blue, and white threading. The way that these are threaded represents all 5 elements in feng shui and none of the colors clash with each other, which means that this product can last over time. I particularly like the liner that keeps liquidy poop in and when I found out that the company that originated the BioBottoms diaper cover model has been around for decades I was not the least surprised given the feng shui color compatibility incorporated into their diaper cover lining. So I hope this article is helpful for moms-to-be and papas-to-be alike. :-) Happy diaper changing! Fondly, Gloria P.S. Want more inside scoop on feng shui topics not often covered by the media? How to Feng Shui Any Room |
|
Barbra Streisand shared with David Keeps: "I remember thinking, 'How could I ever have spent $45,000 for a Tiffany lamp?' But you look at it, and that just cannot be duplicated today. God is in the details, to me." Barbra designs rooms around a specific object, like such a lamp. In fact, that is what feng shui strives to do: design around a focused intention. In Streisand's case, it is to bring out the beauty, the richness, the detail in that lamp and ensure that its energy radiates and permeates the atmosphere. Just apply the same intense focus in feng shui in your own room. Here is how you can get feng shui fit with this 3-step Feng Shui FIT plan. Focus on an intention. Luxury, comfort, liveliness, texture, whatever you fancy. Just ensure that it is ONE THING or ONE SUBJECT.
For example, if you want to envelop yourself with a sense of sensuality, then this sensuality is your one subject. Immerse or imagine yourself in your intention. How does it feel like to embody this intention? What would you have around you if you fully lived and breathed this intention?
To continue the example of sensuality, imagine and identify an object or situation that personifies this sensuality to you. A sample object that can invoke sensuality for you could be a set of plush wine-colored silk pillows on a plum loveseat. A sample situation that may invoke sensuality for you could be the color of paint for a room or the exact quality and quantity of light streaming through the room. Take action. Take just one action to physically manifest your intention. What would you do to have this intention be ever-present in your surroundings? How would you remind yourself to immediately switch mindsets and enjoy the physicality of your intention? In other words, how do you make this intention appear real or become real so you enjoy the bodily sensations and your own biochemical feedback?
To continue the sensuality example, perhaps you may not have the budget to go out and get the plush pillows. Then go out to take a picture of it or cut a picture of it out of a magazine and post it in a place that you can be reminded daily to breathe this sensuality in for enjoyment. You may be surprised how you get these actual physical pillows in your environment!
If you chose the situation example, then perhaps get a color swatch and post it on the wall before you determine to paint the whole wall a certain color. If you chose the lighting option, then play with the lighting; from the best experimental results, switch on the “sensuality setting” or turn on the “sensuality switch” to get in the mood! That's it! Feng shui intention to manifestation is as simple as this in 3 easy steps! It all starts with FIT: focus, imagination and taking action. Have fun with your room decorating! Warmly, Gloria P.S. Feng Shui Jewelry from the Heart in the Year of the Metal Tiger: A Case Study |
|
Recently, I read this quote from a father: “You are not too young to move mountains.” Mr. Conto was talking to his daughter, Lovetta Conto, who is 17 years old. A Strongheart Fellow, Lovetta created and designed her own jewelry: Akawelle Jewelry. “Aka” stands for “also known as” while “wel'le” means “love.” Lovetta Conto is a girl who grew up in war-torn Liberia as a refugee. Having escaped with her life, she went back to create transformation and healing with every bullet cast during the war. From her heart, she crafted these castings that had once killed or injured another into beautiful pieces of jewelry that served to remind us of the preciousness of life itself and of those whom we hold dear. When wearing the jewelry, we hold these precious memories literally close to our hearts. At first, the feng shui expert in me started to enumerate the Top 3 No-No's of such an item: Feng shui is about living energy, how to create harmony among those in the present with the past and the future. Thus, we should not be wearing something that has killed or wounded anyone. This carries hurtful energy that affirms dying energy, not alive energy. Feng shui weaves in, out, through, and around everything. Things, bullets in this case, that touch people carry energy and eventually a person's unique energies also touch the objects. Thus, the person's energies and the objects' energies interweave and eventually get confused. This misalignment can also affect the next person the object touches. Feng shui energy loves to meander like a gently winding river. Bullets travel in straight paths, which create a “sha” or “killing” energy. We like to see what is coming towards us from a horizon, not at point blank. At point blank, we get caught off-guard and some of our “spirit” leaves us temporarily before we re-gather our energies. Then, the feng shui enthusiast in me saw the other side of the coin, or in this case, the metallic object: Feminine energy helps transmute, transform, and birth fresh energy. This young lady used a hard masculine metal object as her inspiration for a very feminine form of expression: jewelry or “joyeria,” as known in Spanish. See the word “joy” in joyeria and you automatically see a smile on a woman's lips. Feng shui energy is found in associations and especially in names. Not only is the word “love” in the young lady's name (Lovetta is her name), “love” is also in the name of the line of jewelry she founded, created, and designed. The triple dose of “love” energy in her name, in the name of her line of jewelry, and even infused in the jewelry itself makes this very potent medicine to heal the hurts that ravaged her home country of Liberia. Put another way, sincerity moves the “feng shui gods!” :-) Feng shui energy in the year of the Metal Tiger makes this a significant year for this young lady and her line of jewelry. 2010 is the year of the Metal Tiger. People, places, things of a metallic nature will all benefit this year. The word “tiger” in Cantonese Chinese, the primary language in feng shui-steeped Hong Kong, is “fu” and also sounds exactly like “bitter.” Only something or someone that has known bitterness will realize what is sweet and profoundly cherish it. So would I wear such an item or advocate wearing such an item? Guess! Mischievously, Gloria :-) P.S. For even more of my energy success mastery info, go to http://fengshuigal.com/secret

The 5 S's Checklist of Co-Sleeping: Feng Shui for the Happiest Baby and Family on the Block |
|
No space for a nursery? No problem. In today's times when saving space means saving money, there is a viable option: share the same bed with your new addition. In many Asian families even today, newborns share the same bed as their parents. Plus, single parents save money and forego the crib idea. Even one single mom I know who has a crib simply prefers her two-year-old son to sleep in the same bed for company. Also, co-sleeping may lead to a treasure trove of family time as one art educator I know shared that she grew up as 1 of 3 kids in the same bed as Papa and Mama while Papa read bedtime stories aloud before they all went to bed. Only you will know what is best for your situation. If you do determine to co-sleep, then follow these 5 S's. You will not only have a great space-saving and money-saving situation. You will also draw on the ancient principles of feng shui to maximize energy flow and efficiency, get practical detailed know-how in the checklist below, and indeed have the happiest baby and family on the block! 1. SURVEY the room or area you designate for sleep. ~Where is the door? ~Where is the window? ~Where are the heat and air conditioning vents? ~Where are the electrical outlets? ~Where are the plug-in electronic gadgets? ACTION: Feng shui for the baby is about protection. Do your best to keep baby (and your bed) furthest away from all the above features. 2. Create SAFE SPACE for yourself, your baby, and your partner. ~What is the most protected position in the bed? ~Who tends to run hot or run cold during sleep? ~Who can best take care of baby? ACTION: Feng shui is about convenience, also known as the ease of energy flow. Usually, the center of the bed is the most protected position for babies. This way, both parents can take care of the baby for diaper changes and feedings. Ensure baby lays flat on back and has own blanket. Create rolled up towels as barriers between you and baby so that baby does not get squashed. Employ the use of natural breathable linens to discourage lint from forming. Position the person who tends to run hot closest to the door. Ensure diaper changing table is closest to the person who has the night shift for diaper changes and feedings. 3. Heighten the quality of your SLEEP. ~Who is a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? ACTION: Feng shui is about restful sleep. If you are a light sleeper, employ the use of ear plugs. If you are a heavy sleeper, position baby closer to you than your partner. The baby's cries will awaken you in time for your night shift. 4. Employ the use of SILENCE. ~Do you tend to talk or sing to your baby to soothe him or her when he or she wakes up during the night? ACTION: Feng shui energy at night is supposed to be as still and quiet as possible, as energy also has its cycles. Stop talking or singing to your baby when he or she awakens during the night. This will help your baby go back to sleep really quickly. If baby finds it difficult to go back to bed, then hold him or her and pat him or her on the back. if this still does not work, then get out of bed to continue holding him or her and walk around. Then place him or her back in bed. 5. Most importantly, SWITCH it up! ~Do you tend to always sleep on one side of the bed? ~Does baby tend to turn to one side, be cradled, or be fed predominantly from one side? ~Does baby's neck tend to tilt to one angle when sitting, laying or standing upright? ACTION: Feng shui is about energy balance, which can reflect through our musculature. If there are any imbalances that develop, it can be that baby got too used to turning to one side during the night. So make sure you switch it up so you, your baby, and your mate do not develop any chronic muscular and energetic imbalances. Enjoy the benefits and let me know how these tips work for you!
