How to Feng Shui Any Room
Barbra Streisand shared with David Keeps: "I remember thinking, 'How could I ever have spent $45,000 for a Tiffany lamp?' But you look at it, and that just cannot be duplicated today. God is in the details, to me."

Barbra designs rooms around a specific object, like such a lamp. In fact, that is what feng shui strives to do: design around a focused intention. In Streisand's case, it is to bring out the beauty, the richness, the detail in that lamp and ensure that its energy radiates and permeates the atmosphere.

Just apply the same intense focus in feng shui in your own room. Here is how you can get feng shui fit with this 3-step Feng Shui FIT plan.

  1. Focus on an intention. Luxury, comfort, liveliness, texture, whatever you fancy. Just ensure that it is ONE THING or ONE SUBJECT.

For example, if you want to envelop yourself with a sense of sensuality, then this sensuality is your one subject.

  2. Immerse or imagine yourself in your intention. How does it feel like to embody this intention? What would you have around you if you fully lived and breathed this intention?

To continue the example of sensuality, imagine and identify an object or situation that personifies this sensuality to you. A sample object that can invoke sensuality for you could be a set of plush wine-colored silk pillows on a plum loveseat. A sample situation that may invoke sensuality for you could be the color of paint for a room or the exact quality and quantity of light streaming through the room.

  3. Take action. Take just one action to physically manifest your intention. What would you do to have this intention be ever-present in your surroundings? How would you remind yourself to immediately switch mindsets and enjoy the physicality of your intention? In other words, how do you make this intention appear real or become real so you enjoy the bodily sensations and your own biochemical feedback?

To continue the sensuality example, perhaps you may not have the budget to go out and get the plush pillows. Then go out to take a picture of it or cut a picture of it out of a magazine and post it in a place that you can be reminded daily to breathe this sensuality in for enjoyment. You may be surprised how you get these actual physical pillows in your environment!

If you chose the situation example, then perhaps get a color swatch and post it on the wall before you determine to paint the whole wall a certain color. If you chose the lighting option, then play with the lighting; from the best experimental results, switch on the “sensuality setting” or turn on the “sensuality switch” to get in the mood!

That's it! Feng shui intention to manifestation is as simple as this in 3 easy steps! It all starts with FIT: focus, imagination and taking action.

Have fun with your room decorating!

Warmly,

Gloria

Boost Your Feng Shui Prospects With 1 Ingredient
by Gloria Ng, The Feng Shui Gal

When people find out I am a feng shui energy master, people often start talking to me about arranging furniture in their home. This is like trying to drink orange juice without even opening the carton. You're just stirring it up or shaking it up. There's no way for you to access the juice! So no matter how you stir your environment on the inside, energy is not getting through somehow. What's the secret? What's missing???

Little do folks know that feng shui really starts at your front door. This is the prime ingredient to any feng shui remedy for the house, the home, the office. The front door is the first thing you notice from the street. It is also the first place you often enter. Sure, some of you may have garages and carports. Even so, the front door announces you to the world. It announces your receptivity to the energy in the universe. Whether this door leads to your home, your home office, or your office, the front door matters because that is where life force energy enters your space first.

Life force is a vitality that courses through us and our environment. This energy resides within each one of us and in each thing, too. The higher the life force energy in a person the more life force energy that person attracts. The higher the life force energy in an environment, the more life force energy it also attracts.

Many places in the world have high life force energy. Think of a temperate or tropical rainforest and all the life that these can nourish. Now think of the arctic and the desert. Where do you think you would find more life force energy?

If you thought forest, then you are definitely onto something.

Feng shui is not about how to increase this vital life force energy in a person or place. Feng shui is about how to increase the capacity of the person and the environment to receive, maintain and sustain this high level of vitality. The forest can generate and sustain more life than the arctic and the desert. The highest number of species are all found in the tropical rainforest. Feng shui desires to increase the capacity of your home or office to nourish you. We start to do this by addressing the front door.

When we look at how we can increase the capacity of life force energy to be captured and stay in a place, we are essentially looking at how and why space clearing works! You are emptying out prior layers of stuff and declaring to the universe you are ready to receive more vital energy in place of it. So guess what would be a great way to approach your front door?

YES! You need to clear it. Clean it. Refresh it. Invite new energy to come to your front door. This is the quickest sure-fire way to embrace change. Enjoy!

3 Ways To A Feng Shui Front Yard
by Gloria Ng, The Feng Shui Gal

I love taking walks in the neighborhood and looking at different people's yards. I imagine how I would get to the front door, how I would feel as someone who goes in and out of there on a daily basis, how the view would look even from the interior of the house. By taking these neighborhood walks, I get a glimpse into the lives of the people who live there.

Occasionally, angst would replace my curiosity and appreciation for the diversity out there. I have noticed my impatience and compassion wanting to reach out to the neighbors to tell them ways that they can bring more beneficial energy to their home. I am not talking about a well-landscaped yard that is sitting pretty and just perfectly so. A wealth of hidden treasure just needs to be unearthed and tapped into. This won't cost you a penny—just your time and energy. So dig in!

1. Ensure a winding pathway to the front door. Imagine where you'd like to be more: at a dam or at a river? The energy from a dam runs pretty straight and pretty fast. So if you have a direct path like this to your front door, then you are inviting fast-moving energy to cascade at your front door. The energy of a river, on the other hand, has a smooth soft winding path. So if you have a winding pathway, you are inviting energy to flow towards your front door in a more gentle manner. This is the energy you want to approach your front door, an energy where you can bask in. Between a dam and a river, I would rather be at the river where I can easily dip a toe into it without worrying about any rocks or pebbles or other sharp unexpected items to dodge at me.

2. Utilize your existing brush. If you already have overgrown brush and a straight concrete pathway to your front door, then strategically trim the overgrowth in alternate places so that the brush along the pathway creates an illusion of a winding pathway. If you have no brush to work with, this may be your only purchase: plants in round planters. Make sure the size of the planters and plants are appropriate to your dwelling. If you've got a small pathway to a small dwelling, then use small plants in small planters and vice versa. You still want to feel an ease and flow to get to your front door.

3. Use what you already have. Of course, plants are the #1 choice for creating a winding pathway to the front door. If you have absolutely no brush to work with and are on a very tight budget, you can use found rocks or wood chips to outline a winding path or strategically place them alternately along the straight pathway to the door. You can use sidewalk paint to create a winding pathway. You can even use sidewalk chalk if you have a home daycare.

Whatever you do to create a winding path, ensure that it feels good and appropriate to you and your circumstance. You will be amazed how your front lawn feels different to you even when you pay attention to how the energy gets to your front door. Enjoy!

The #1 Thing To Do When You Buy A House
by Gloria Ng, The Feng Shui Gal

If you have ever hunted for an apartment or gone on multiple open house visits, you may have noticed that some places just give you the creeps while others just seem to be deliciously welcoming. We can be rational about it or we can just come from out gut about it. Either way, there is no denying that we tend to be drawn to some places more than others. Why is this? This has much to do with predecessor energy. What is predecessor energy, though? Why should I be concerned about it?

Predecessor energy stems from the energy that has been circulating in a place before you got there. Oftentimes, we are talking about the energy of prior inhabitants that have had time to soak up in the space, walls, floors, even the air. Energy is energy. In order to determine whether predecessor energy is healthy for the next or current inhabitants, we need to know more about how predecessor energy shows up.

Predecessor energy can show up in a healthy way when prior occupants have in some way “moved up.” This can show as a marriage, increased success in one's field, bringing in another child into the world, or some other event of significance.

Predecessor energy can show up in an unhealthy way when prior inhabitants have in some way “moved down.” This can show up as a divorce, an unexpected death in the family, a demotion in one's job, a constantly sickly child, or some other unforeseen event.

If predecessor energy is healthy for us, of course we want to build on that. If predecessor energy is unhealthy, of course we want to create alternatives. Some people prefer to start off with a fresh canvas and clean up all predecessor energy. While some choose to have a house blessing or some other elaborate form of ritual to clear the space, all is not lost even if you have already moved into a place.

Remember that the front door is the most important gateway for all feng shui energy to approach and filter through your space. Who knows how many X amount of months or years the prior occupants have used this same door? You might have it in your budget to get a completely new front door, new gate, new lock, new mat, and new everything with it.... However, if that's not in your time, budget, or energy allocation, there is a good alternative.

The number one thing you can do RIGHT NOW with your front door even where you live is to go to your local hardware store to: GET A NEW LOCK. You can benefit whether this place is where you live or where you work or both. If you live in an apartment complex, this may not be an option for you. You may need to go through your manager and there may be some hoops—if your lock is quite old and gets stuck and you need to jimmy the lock to even get in, you have a stronger case.

Front Door Feng Shui Facelift in Minutes
by Gloria Ng, The Feng Shui Gal

Spider webs span the stairs, across the pathway, between bushes, yawning from the porch light to the front door frame. Rain-smeared dirt layers the front door even under the protection of the slight overhang. Mail slot shows rust, acid rain spots, and flaking decay. What more can I say to illustrate the crud that accumulates and stops feng shui energy flow day in and day out? Is stagnation and decay what you want to attract to your front door? The good news is: you can welcome fresh new energy immediately! Whether you live in a house or a condo or apartment complex, you can still benefit. Start here: Give your front door a facelift in 10 minutes or less!

1. Get a bucket. Fill this bucket with fresh clean water. You may use spring water, well water, drinkable water, even tap water, whatever you deem fresh and clean. If you don't have access to a bucket at this very moment, then use an old pot or big bowl or something. Yes, this is the most important thing you can do for your front door RIGHT NOW.

2. Get a towel. Any cloth towel will do. Make sure that it is super absorbent and can really wipe down various textures and surfaces. If you don't have access to a good cloth towel, then any towel will do. If you don't have a towel, any cleaning rag or old T-shirt or anything your imagination can take you will do. Yes, cleaning the front door is that important.

3. Wipe off all exterior surfaces. Dampen the cloth and wipe off all features on the door, including the handle, the mail slot, the window panes, the door knob or lock. Include any metal gate that may be hinged right outside your front door.

4. Wipe off other gateways. If you go through several portals to even get to your front door, wipe those areas off as well. If you live in a house and you pass through a fenced gate, then wipe that down as well. Even if you are in an apartment complex, if you notice that the front door to the whole building needs attention, then wipe off this front door, too. If anything, your manager will be grateful. Hey, they might even be nicer to you or even tip you!

5. Get a dry towel. Wipe your front door dry so that no other dust or dirt gets a chance to stick to the work that you've just completed! This is very important. Don't leave these areas to air-dry!

Finally, let the sparkle begin! Over the next several days, weeks, and months, take time to notice what fresh opportunities approach your way. Make sure to periodically schedule these wipe-downs to continue broadcasting to the universe around you that you are open to fresh clean new opportunities to come your way.
